Center for Magnetic Resonance has hired Demet Yigit to manage the daily operations of HYPERMAG's Cell Laboratory.

HYPERMAG is expanding its activities within applications of hyperpolarization by dissolution Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (dDNP). In our cell laboratorium we investigate transient states in intact, living cells and their metabolic responses to outside factors such as nutrition, drugs and toxic compounds.

The increased activity level demands efficient operations. To achieve this, we have hired Demet Yigit to manage and coordinate cell lab activities for the next 10 months.

Demet has a MSc in Biotechnology from DTU Systems Biology and did her master thesis on Metabolic phenotyping of Enterobacteriaceae with HYPERMAG's Pernille Rose Jensen and Mathilde H. Lerche as supervisors.

In addition to her master thesis, Demet is also co-author of a paper that builds partly on findings from her master project. Stable Isotope-Resolved Analysis with Quantitative Dissolution Dynamic Nuclear Polarization was published in Analytical Chemistry (Anal. Chem. 90, 1, 674-678). The paper presents how dDNP can boost the sensitivity and resolution of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) when studying metabolite profiles, and puts forward a sample preparation method, including cell incubation, extraction and signal enhancement, to obtain reproducible and quantitative dDNP (qdDNP) NMR-based stable isotope-resolved analysis. It further demonstrates how qdDNP is applied to gain metabolic insights into the phenotype of aggressive cancer cells.
