The HYPERMAG Center of Excellence has employeed Ke-Chuan Wang as Postdoctoral Fellow.

Ke-Chuan Wang will be working on a project in the HYPERMAG Biological Applications Group; metabolic research within bacterial pathogens and their hosts.

The aim of Ke-Chuan's project is to investigate metabolic crosstalk between intracellular pathogens and their host using the unique possibilities of hyperpolarized tracers. Little is know about this crosstalk and how external impacts such as drugs or prebiotics affect the interlinked metabolism of the pathogen and host cells in the gut epithelium. Hyperpolarized NMR, with its many-fold signal enhancement, is an ideal technique to investigate this unchartered field.

Ke-Chuan holds a PhD degree from Taipei Medical University, Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and comes from Postdoc positions at Institute of Biological Chemistry, Academia Sinica and Shuang-Ho Hospital, Taipei Medical University, both Taipei, Taiwan. He has worked with bacteria, Salmonella infections and intracellular stress within host cells, and at HYPERMAG he will apply hyperpolarized NMR to investigate the field further.

Ke-Chuan's research is funded by Danish National Research Foundation (DNRF124).
