Research interests:
My research focuses on hydrological data analysis and modelling, mainly in urban settings but also in natural catchments. I have worked a lot with real-time applications (monitoring, forecasting and control) of water quantity and quality in sewers and at wastewater treatment plants. Examples are:
- Short-range precipitation forecasts (NWP and radar nowcasts)
- Forecasting of flow and water quality in urban drainage systems.
- Merging continuous ISE signals with daily composite samples for improved NH4+ monitoring in wastewater.
- Hydrodynamic modeling by linking Python and EPA SWMM5 models.
- Automatic data validation and model calibration.
- Assimilation of satellite-based altimetry observations in river runoff models.
I am currently doing an industrial postdoc as a collaboration between the Danish Meteorological Institute and DTU Environment. Here I work with early warning of floods and use of open weather data for hydrological purposes.
Teaching:
I have been part of the teaching teams for a range of different water-related courses:
- Introduction to climate change
- Stochastic hydrology
- Water resources management
- Integrated urban water quality management
- Advanced topics in urban water management
